Republic of Singapore

Our first stop on our year sabbatical was to the island country of Singapore. We began our year-long journey by flying from Denver to San Francisco and then had a short 16 hour hop to Singapore! One of our flight attendants, Linda, helped us celebrate the start of our adventure with some champagne and an ice cream sundae that she brought back from polaris!

Singapore and it’s Changi airport is a true connector of people. It has over 160 non-stop flights to 50 countries and has close to 70 million annual passengers, so it just made sense (as Jake would say) to make it our first destination.

We spent the day adjusting to the 14 hour time zone change from Denver starting with a long night sleep! The next morning we walked around the city and the waterfront East Coast Park. The East Coast Park reminds Jake of the coastal trail in Anchorage, just with palm trees and sand beaches instead of mudflats! After our walk we around the city we found a pub to watch some of the FIFA world cup before having to go back to Changi to fly to Bali. Leave it to Becca to find a pub open at 10am that serves Magners Cider.
